FRC TEAM 2386

Team 2386 is a group of students, school faculty and industry-expert mentors passionate about technology and innovation. Students spend over 4000 hours to engineer a robot from scratch, including the mechanical design and build as well as the electrical hardware and software.  We compete in regional, provincial, and international competitions hosted by the organization FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology). These competitions evaluate not only the robot’s ability to complete a variety of complex tasks, but also rewards teams based on community impact, inspiration, and exhibiting what we call “Gracious Professionalism”. This value emphasizes respect for individuals and the community to balance fierce competition and high-quality work. It is a value not only employed by FIRST, but also the foundation of everything we do at Team 2386.

The robotics program offers students a hands-on, project-based opportunity to apply STEM principles in a meaningful way. It bridges the gap between theoretical learning and real-world experience, especially for students who struggle to connect the two in traditional science and math courses. Beyond this, the program serves as a springboard for careers in engineering and manufacturing. Many alumni have gone on to work as engineers, millwrights, welders, and more at companies like ArcelorMittal Dofasco and other industry leaders. Mentors with expertise from companies such as Tesla, L3 Harris Wescam, BMP Metals, and Powerhouse Controls guide students through the program. For many members and alumni, this program has been the most impactful part of their education, helping them build a network of like-minded peers and gain real-world experience.
